Spacemachine

The Project optomechanically configures the physical displacement of space through the volume of the moving human being as a performative experimental situation. The public is invited to interact with a space apparatus wich is formed of flexible rods and perform with them and thus perform themselves.

Rods rise up vertically in the space; they are arranged in a defined grid on a ground area and react with light to the physical movements taking place between them.

To a certain degree, the installation translates the “Stäbetanz” (Rod Dance) developed by Oskar Schlemmer in 1927 from a body costume to a space costume.
